2008 MOVIES
January 1st, 2008 - January 1st, 2009
first time viewing, obviously

Pointless. Ew. Never watching this again, unless to mock it.
Fair enough, and worth watching at least once, but maybe only that.
Good, I liked it, something worth sharing with others. Might still have boring/stupid moments.
Fantastic. Adored it. Reminds you why you love movies.
A fast favorite, something I could buy and watch every day.

001. Atonement (2007)
There was such a mixed set of vibes floating around this movie, but I loved it. Cinematography was gorgeous, the soundtrack perfect, and the acting brilliant. So everyone else can shove off.

002. Juno (2007)
Somewhat overrated. The thing I liked the most was Michael Cera.

003. The Messengers (2007)
Not too bad, not too good. I liked the plot of the story, even if it was a bit choppy at times. The scenery was really nice to look at, too.

004. Saved! (2004)
This movie is hilarious. Not only does it have two of my favorite younger-generation actors, Jena Malone and Patrick Fugit, but it also made me like Mandy Moore and Macaulay Culkin again. The ending is really sweet, too. People who are offended by this movie need to get over it.

005. City Of Angels (1998)
The. Ending. Pissed. Me. Off. I love love stories, I love the premise, I love that song called Angel, but the ending. Pissed. Me. Off.

006. Galaxy Quest (1999) ½
Omg, Alan Rickman steals the show. I have no idea why he's so funny in this, but his timing is perfect.

007. Imaginary Heroes (2004) ½
This movie is probably not everyone's idea of a good time, but it's really powerful and the performances are captivating. I love Emile Hirsch and Ryan Donowho, obviously, but I also thing Sigourney Weaver had some really funny moments in this. One of my new favorites.

008. Accepted (2006)
The only problem with this movie is that it's not memorable. While you're watching it you can point out that, sure, that was really funny, but I honestly didn't remember much once it was finished.

009. Confessions Of An American Girl (2002)
The only reason I watched this was for Jena Malone and Brad Renfro, and I was slightly disappointed.

010. Martian Child (2007)
Why didn't this movie get more attention? And honestly, a movie on this topic, about a man who lost everything and adopts a boy who is hinted at having Autism, can not be too bittersweet. It was adorable, and the ending made me cry happily. And the soundtrack made me love the band Guster.

011. Into The Wild (2007) ½
This is one of those movies you can't watch very often because one viewing is so powerful. It makes you go wow during many scenes, especially the ending, which left me both intrigued and upset. But it's based on true events, an amazing story, so everyone should see this at least once. Emilie Hirsch deserved an Oscar nod. He was alone for nearly all of the movie, and he carried the whole thing.

012. Alpha Dog (2006) ½
I don't know why I like this movie, it doesn't seem like the typical thing I would like. And Justin Timberlake? I normally find him annoying. But give me Justin Timberlake in an acting role and I will most likely enjoy it. Again, Emile Hirsch is amazing, and the whole cast is made up of people I like, Ben Foster and Christopher Marquette especially. It was very believable, too, and the violence was enjoyable, which is sort of creepy to say.

013. White Oleander (2002)
You can't compare a movie to a book constantly when watching it. You have to look at the movie as just that, a movie, and nothing else. I love this book and the movie left out many things, but as a movie I loved this. Delicate, addicting, and heartbreaking sum it up nicely.

014. Jumper (2008)
Hayden Christensen can't act. He just cant. While he may be cute and all, Jamie Bell is cuter and steals the entire show. He made me glad that I had seen this movie, if only just for him. I also hate Rachel Bilson, she can't act, either. I did like the scenery and special effects, however.

015. No Country For Old Men (2007)
Javier Bardem steals the movie. Everyone fear Javier Bardem! I don't know if this should have won the Oscar this year, as the ending sort of annoyed me and seemed to be all "WE MUST HURRY UP AND FINISH" but it's definitely worth watching.

016. There Will Be Blood (2007) ½
Three words and a hyphen: Daniel Day-Lewis.

017. The Air I Breathe (2007)
I didn't get the point? A great cast in a movie that I thought I was really going to like, but it left me feeing unsatisfied, sadly.

018. Peter Pan (2003)
Made me love Peter Pan all over again! Even if the world's obsession with Jeremy Sumpter is a bit annoying. Jason Isaacs is the real gem here.

019. Jackass Number 2 (2006)
HOW THE HELL DO YOU RATE A JACKASS MOVIE?! LOL.

020. Ouija Board/Bunshinsaba (2004)
I thought this was going to be different, and while I still like what it was, it was a bit disappointed. There were some creepy moments, though, like whenever that dramatic music would start playing and the girls with long black hair would appear.

021. Sunshine (2007)
If you've talked to me recently, you know that I love this movie. I love Cillian Murphy, I love the premise, and science nerds to just shut up and leave it alone. It's a movie, and it's highly entertaining and makes everything feel so claustrophobic. I, for one, would never go on a mission to the sun after this. Not that I would have ever gone before, but I'd rather just sit back and enjoy this movie. Amazing. GAH!

022. This Film Is Not Yet Rated (2006)
There were some moments in this documentary that had me LOLing for no particular reason, like when they made a little slideshow of what sort of sexual scenes are allowed in a PG13/R/NC-17 movie, and it was really informative.

023. The Mist (2007) ½
THE PERFECT B HORROR MOVIE! It doesn't try to be anything that it's not, and it's one of those take-it-as-it-is sort of movies. With that in mind, it's really, really, entertaining. And it freaked me out at times with all the bugs. Anything involving Stephen King with Frank Durabont directing tends to be fantastic.

024. The Orphanage/El Orfanato (2007)
This was also different than I thought it was going to be, but it was good in that psychological-thriller sense. And the ending was really emotional, so that's what made me like it more than dislike it.

025. Watching The Detectives (2007)
Half the time I had no idea just what was going on, but it was cute and Cillian Murphy is, again, brilliant. I've never really seen many films with the femme-fatal sort of premise, but it was done in a sweet way here.

026. The Covenant (2006) ½
Uhm? The good: Steven Strait, Taylor Kirsch, the music. The bad: everything else.

027. Mulberry Street (Horrorfest 2007) ½
This Horrorfest entry sort of grossed me out more than it scared me, but whoever said that was a bad thing, yeah?

028. L.I.E (2001)
This movie veered into a direction I wasn't expecting and that sort of made me dislike it a little bit more, but I still liked it, and little Paul Dano was really good. The subject is a bit taboo, but it never labels anything, which is why I liked it.

029. About A Boy (2002)
HUGH GRANT IN A MOVIE WHERE HE ISN'T ANNOYING? AND WHERE HE CAN ACT? WOW! This movie was so sweet, and there were some genuine LOL moments in it. Little Nicholas Hoult steals your heart, and I can't really find anything to complain about.

030. Water Lilies/Naissance Des Pieuvres (2007)
So sweet. It was different than I thought it would be, it was more about friendship than love.

031. Superhero Movie (2008)
Not as good as the Scary Movie series, imo.

032. Just Friends (2005) ½
CHRIS MARQUETTE MAKES MY LIFE. As does Anna Farris in this, I love it.

033. But I'm A Cheerleader (1999)
I can't say I really find the subject of the film really all that funny...?

034.An American Crime (2007)
Also very powerful, based off the same story as the movie below. I think I liked the other version more because this one seemed to try too hard to stay away from an NC-17 rating.

035. The Girl Next Door (2007) ½
This is based off the true-story book, and is not the 2004 movie of the same title. It's really, really powerful.

036. The Thing (1982) ½
OMG I LOVE IT. Such a perfect horror movie.

037. The Ballad Of Jack And Rose (2005) ½
Talk about weird. Wtf Paul Dano? Wtf Daniel Day-Lewis? Wtf Camilla Bell and her character's craziness. But the end still made me sad.

038. The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants (2005)
Stfu, I liked it. I haven't read the books, though, so I have no idea how anything compares to that.

039. Billy Elliot (2000)
GAH, this is like, the perfect movie. And when Billy kisses Michael on the cheek? Gah!

040. Slap Her... She's French (2002)
I caught this movie on tv and it was really weird. I was like OMG TRENT FORD and then OMG PIPER PERABO.

041. What Happens in Vegas... (2008)
I think it could have been worse. And it made me like Ashton Kutcher more instead of disliking him, which is good.

042. Fifty Pills (2006)
There is this one scene between Lou Taylor Pucci and Eddie Kaye Thomas that literally had me rolling around in laughter for no particular reason. Omg, too funny.

043. P.S. I Love You (2007) ½
Alright, alright, it was cute. But there was something that kept me from giving it a higher rating, I don't know what.

044. 11:14 (2003) ½
Amazing! I love movies that give you small pieces at a time instead of a more linear storytelling. This is about two care accidents that take place at the same exact time, 11:14pm, and change the lives of five sets of people.

045. Ils/Them (2006)
I think I liked this a little bit better than The Strangers, only because of the foreign setting and cast. Talk about a reason to leave all your lights on.

046. Normal (2007)
I was slightly disappointed, as I thought this was going to be different. But the ending was powerful and Carrie-Anne Moss is amazing.

047. The Strangers (2008) ½
Okay, this is just going to add to my nightmares even if it wasn't as scary watching it at home as it was actually in a theater. Though, sitting in a dark bedroom, in a dark house, and on a windy night when you hear noises against the house isn't exactly good for the nerves, either. I liked it, held my attention, and I love Liv Tyler.

048. Wristcutters: A Love Story (2006)
I can't say that I was a huge fan of this movie, if was different than I thought it was going to be. I love Patrick Fugit, though, and I loved the ending.

049. Love Is The Drug (2006)
John Patrick Amedori is so much love.

050. Liberty Heights (1999)
I wanted more of the Ben Foster storyline :[

051. Du Er Ikke Alene/You Are Not Alone (1978)
So cute! I have a thing for coming-of-age movies.

052. Blackout (2007) ½
Talk about a reason to hate elevators even more. Creepy, really, really creepy. I love Amber Tamblyn.

053. Normal Adolescent Behavior (2007)

054. Dark Floors (2008) ½
I think I figured it out? I like the theme and things like this, like time travel and good versus evil and all that, but now that I think I get it I've realized this movie didn't actually explain things well enough and the characters were sort of boring, like you didn't really care what happened to them. Sigh.

055. Wind Chill (2007) ½
I really loved this movie. I know there were a lot of obvious little goofs, but it was still excellent, and it proves that thrillers don't have to involve a ton of gore. I knew what the "twist" was pretty early, but that didn't stop the enjoyment.

056. Silent Hill (2006)
Dude, this movie is fucking insane.

057. Father Of The Bride (1991) ½
I love Steve Martin.

058. Event Horizon (1997)
Omfg. Thank you for the nightmares.

059. The Ruins (2008) ½
If you ever see me about to pick a flower, smack me over the head, okay? Thank you.

060. Day Of The Dead (2008) ½
Hm. Pretty much like every other zombie movie.

061. Sleepwalking (2008)
I think the ending ruined it for me, which is a shame because I really liked the actors and the performances. Dennis Hopper's character was just a bit too much for me, I think. Sad.

062. The Dark Knight (2008)
OMG!!!

063. When A Stranger Calls (2006)½
Not terrible, but nothing to get excited about, either.

064. Lost Boys 2: The Tribe (2008)½
Wow, way to mess up an amazing movie with a crappy sequel. The best parts involved Corey Feldman, from the original, but what was up with Corey Haim's small part and the crappy tie-ins to the first one? Bah!

065. À ma soeur!/Fat Girl! (2001)
WHAT THE HELL WAS UP WITH THE ENDING?!?!

066. Prom Night (2008)
This may just be the worst movie ever.

067. Earthlings (2006)
I AM NOT RATING THIS, NOR AM I EVER WATCHING THIS DOCUMENTARY AGAIN. IT MADE ME CRY ABOUT 37 TIMES.

068. Urban Legends: Bloody Mary (2005)½
This movie sucks. The acting is just, no.

069. Hard Candy (2005)½
Unsettling. But I still can't stand Ellen Page.

070. Disco Pigs (2001)
I have no idea what in the world was being said half the time because of the accents, but this was a beautiful movie and I love Cillian to pieces.

071. The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning (2008)
Hey, don't mock. Disney ftw.

072. Baby Mama (2008)½
I love the cast, but this was a lot different than I thought it was going to be. Still cute, though.

073. State Of Grace (1990)
Gary Oldman. Omg. Omg, Gary Oldman.

074. Keith (2008)
Thank you for not annoying me in this, Jesse McCartney! Good movie, slightly depressing.

075. Snow Angels (2007)
What an amazing movie. I totally can't even fathom it. Just, wow. This is exactly the sort of movie I really love, depressing and intense...and well acted/written/filmed. Alajssngsgspgs.

076. Meet Bill (2007)½
I love Aaron Eckhart. He is so good in this role, and there were a few scenes that had me laughing way too much.

077. Sleepaway Camp (1983)½
LOL this movie is so bad, but you have to love classic cheesy 80's horror.

078. The Baker (2007)
This might have one of the funniest sex scenes ever, but I don't always understand British humor. Damian Lewis is lovely, however.

079. Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead (1991)½
Definitely had its cute moments!

080. Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead (2008)½
Oh dear. I went from really bored to really amused (in all the wrong ways). Do not want.

081. Father Of The Bride II (1995)
I think I liked this more than the first one, it was so effing cute.

082. Life Before Her Eyes (2007)½
I thought it was amazing.

083. Return To Sleepaway Camp (2008)
LMFAO why the hell did I watch this?

084. Urban Legend 2: Final Cut (2000)
The first is better.

085. 2001 Maniacs (2005)
I didn't see the intrigue. It was sort of...boring.

086. Tropic Thunder (2008)
There were parts that I loved and parts that I didn't really like, so I'm torn. Tom Cruise was amazing, however.

087. The Pineapple Express (2008)½
Loved the beginning, loved the way end, loved James Franco, but I think it lagged in certain parts too much for me to really love the whole thing as a package.

088. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 (2008)
Guilty pleasure alert!

089. Drillbit Taylor (2008)
The acting wasn't super good and I'm totally surprised this was a PG-13, but some of the writing was funny.

090. Whisper (2007)½
The wolves...freaked me out. Not a bad movie over all.

091. Låt den rätte komma in/Let The Right One In (2008)½
Seemed to make me believe that yes, stories about vampires can still be told! And I adored the relationship between Oskar and Eli, I was literally AWWWWing out loud.

092. Love and Other Disasters (2006)½
It had its moments, but I honestly have no idea what to say about this movie.

093. Eden Lake (2008)
This movie was amazing in that I WANT TO FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE sense, but it's not the kind of movie I want to watch over and over again because I'd lose my sanity.

094. Reservation Road (2007)½
Amazing acting, but I didn't really like how it started to become a thriller toward the end.

095. Twilight (2008)
I honestly have no idea what to say. Uh. Yay the baseball scene?

096. Step Brothers (2008)½
I just didn't think it was that funny.

097. Zack And Miri Make A Porno (2008)
Really dirty. But really funny.

098. Milk (2008)½
tba.

099. Seven Pounds (2008)½
tba.

100. Disturbia (2007)½
tba.

101. Lakeview Terrace (2008)
tba.

102. Blindness (2008)
tba.
